The inauguration of Spaceport Esrange marks and important milestone for Europe, Sweden and SSC – Swedish Space Corporation. This new launch complex outside Kiruna, in northern Sweden, is a crucial asset that will increase Europe’s launch capabilities and improve its competitiveness.
Our CEO, Richard Hilton, represented GlobalTrust at the event. In the picture, you can also see him with H.M the King of Sweden, Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission), Ulf Kristersson (Sweden’s Prime Minister), Lotta Finstorp (Governor of Norrbotten County), Josef Aschbacher (Director General at European Space Agency) and Anna Kinberg Batra (Chair of SSC).
The exhibition showcased how space connects to the priority areas of the EU presidency: democratic values, green transition, security and competitiveness.
As President von der Leyen said during her speech at the inauguration, one of the crucial points for Europe at the moment is the green transition. To fight climate change, and provide trusted and unbiased information for the decision-makers, “you just have to look from space”.
Using Earth Observation satellites, GlobalTrust can help governments and businesses with their sustainability strategies by providing them with reliable and independent data to implement their green transition plans.
